So, I just had a discussion with one of my co-workers at my day job about "catchphrases", and I made the comment of "Could that catchphrase be from, oh I don't know… SATAN?!?" Like Dana Carvey's Church Lady character.,

And got a blank stare.

So I explained it to him… and I realized that the "Church Lady" character is OLDER THAN HIM, as he wasn't born until 1989, and the Church Lady started in 1986.

I'm OOOOOOOOOOOLD.

I had a similar experience some years back. I was talking with some slightly younger co-workers and happened to be standing under a bowl shaped light that caused my voice to echo back at me. I said something along the lines of "I feel like I'm in the cone of silence" and then had to explain that I was talking about Get Smart (No, not the movie. Yes, I'm certain it was hilarious.)

He's also a drummer, but I refuse to discuss older music around him, because I'm afraid we'll have a conversation that might go like this: "So yeah, I was really into Duran Duran for a bit growing up." "I think I heard of them once — someone said they opened for the Lawrence Welk show or something with all the old people on it?" And then after I clean the blood off the walls, I'll have to sit in the corner and sob for awhile.
